Collaborative Giveaway: In Honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hello again everyone.  This is my second post of the day.  To learn about a special World Card Making Day celebration going on over at TLC Creations, be sure to scroll down and check out my previous post for your chance to earn not only one freebie but two, PLUS the chance to win a $10.00 gift certificate to the TLC Creations store.  Also be sure to pop back later when I'll be hosting my own WCMD celebration!

Right now though I have something special to share with you.  If you have already been by the Imagine That! Digis by Kris blog today then you'll already be aware of this special giveaway.  If you haven't, then now is the perfect time to read up on it!

As many of you may be aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM). BCAM is an annual health campaign organized internationally by major breast cancer charities each year in October in order to both increase awareness of the devastating disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Additionally, the campaign also offers information and support to those individuals affected by breast cancer.

I'm sure that you probably know someone who's life has forever been altered by the calamitous effects of this ravaging disease. It is stated that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, with nearly 1.7 million new cases diagnosed in 2012.

Other staggering statistics include:
  • Belgium had the highest rate of breast cancer, followed by Denmark and France. However, Belgium also had the highest proportion of breast cancer survivors still alive five years after their diagnosis, followed by Denmark and France.
  • The highest incidence of breast cancer was in Northern America and Oceania; and the lowest incidence in Asia and Africa.
  • The highest proportion of breast cancer survivors still alive five years after their diagnosis was in Northern America and Europe; and the lowest incidence in Africa and Asia.

This year in Canada, it is estimated that 25,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer (26% of all new cancer cases in women) and that 5,000 women will die from it (14% of all cancer deaths in women). When you break that down it means that on average, each and every day there will be 68 Canadian women newly diagnosed with breast cancer, and that we will lose 14 to the effects of this disease. While breast cancer in men is rarer, it still happens. It is also estimated that 220 Canadian men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 60 will die from it.

When it comes to the United States the stats are just as bleak. This year, it is estimated that among women in the United States, that there will be 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer and that 40,290 will succumb to the disease. Among men in the US, it is estimated that there will be 2,350 new cases and that 440 men will die from the disease.

Even though the statistics are alarming and we may currently know someone fighting to survive we still have one very important thing that we can keep with us each day--HOPE. We need to keep hope alive in our hearts that those we love will survive and that one day there will be a cure.

For there to be a cure, more research needs to be done and for more research to be done, more funds need to raised. To help provide some incentive, Kris from
Imagine That! Digis by Kris and I have created some designs that we will give for FREE to anyone of you who can provide us with proof that you have donated funds (a minimum of $5.00) to your local cancer charity or organization. Simply send an email to me at decossesdynamitedoodles {at} yahoo {dot} ca (don't forget to replace the 'at' and 'dot' with the appropriate symbols), with the subject heading, "Cancer Donation", including a copy of any donation receipt you have made from September 1st, 2015 to October 31st, 2015 (just be sure to erase or black out any private info you don't want us to see--ie. account info, address, tel. number, etc). This opportunity will remain open until October 31st. For each person who does so, you will receive for FREE as our way of saying thank you for donating to the cause...

Not only will we be giving BOTH these sets for free to those who meet the criteria listed above but we are also giving away the sets to some random winners who leave a comment over on the Imagine That! Digis by Kris blog.

One person will win the Angel Bear with Ribbon set AND the Fight Like a Girl digital paper set, one person will win the Angel Bear with Ribbon set and one person will win the Fight Like a Girl digital paper set.

You have until 6:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, Oct. 13th, to get your answers submitted and winners will be announced on the Imagine That! Digis by Kris blog on Thursday, Oct. 15th!  Click HERE and scroll down until you see 'Giveaway Time' and then follow the directions for your chance to win!

Additionally...
I'm also presenting my own readers with an additional opportunity to win one of the  Fight Like a Girl digital paper sets.

Even if you don't have the funds to donate you can always do your part by reaching out to encourage or support someone dealing with cancer in their life.  In order to have an extra chance to win a set of the Fight Like a Girl papers, I would like you to link up a creation PAST or PRESENT with the theme of CANCER awareness or support, to the link up below.  The number of sets being given out will depend on the number of people who link up.  Your creation doesn't have to specifically be breast cancer related, it can be any type of project as long as it is a creation that was or is meant to bring awareness to the cancer cause, support or encouragement to someone currently going through cancer, or even a project letting a survivor know you haven't forgotten the struggle they went through and how proud you are that they never gave up their fight.  There are so many true heroes around us surviving the daily battles that life throws at them.  Why not let them know how much you care.

This special link up will remain until October 31st at 11:55 p.m.  Remember you can link up something from the PAST or the PRESENT.  Simply follow the additional rules, found under the 'Link Up' found at the bottom of the page.

If you do decide to make a new creation, I've provided a freebie as some inspiration...

This digital paper is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi. I've used resources from Pixel Scrapper and VecteezyFull credits in the file.  To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location.  In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Please help to spread the word of this fundraising event and giveaway by adding a copy of the badge that you can find at the very top of this post to your sidebar and linking it to the original post over on the Imagine That! Digis by Kris blog: http://imaginethatdigistamp.blogspot.ca/2015/10/new-release-in-honour-of-breast-cancer.html.  With your help we can let more people know and hopefully raise more awareness and funds to help.

Well that is it for this one!  I'll be back later this evening after I have fed my poor neglected husband, with my own Card Making Day celebration!

Until then,
